Toasting food over a campfire at dusk

Helyg is the willow-shaded one at the bottom of the field, with its own gate straight onto the footpath, which means the walk starts at your door rather than after a drive. Inside it is the same as Onnen, a king bed and a wood burner, with a hard floor through the middle and a washable rug instead of anything precious.

Dogs are welcome here and only here, so guests who would rather not share a field with them can book the other two knowing where they stand. There is a hose and a towel rail by the door for the state your dog will be in by teatime.

The footpath runs up onto the open hill in one direction and down to the village in the other, about twenty-five minutes on foot to the pub.

A timber cabin reflected in a still forest lake

Inside

  • King bed with cotton linen, made up before you arrive
  • Wood burner, with the first basket of logs on us
  • Hard floor and a washable rug, because of the dog
  • Two-ring hob, sink, fridge and everything to cook with
  • Shower room with a proper hot shower and a flushing loo

Outside

  • Own gate onto the footpath, up the hill or down to the village
  • Hose, towel rail and a tie ring by the door
  • Fire pit and a bench, with a grill that fits over it

Good to know

  • One dog, £15 for the stay (illustrative), on the bed is fine
  • Sheep on the hill, so the footpath is a lead job
  • Twenty-five minutes' walk down to the village and the pub

Book direct and the welcome hamper is on the table when you arrive.
